Granutools at the Dry Coating Forum 2026 - September 29-30, 2026
Granutools will take part in the 4th Dry Coating Forum, hosted by Fraunhofer IWS in Dresden on September 29–30, 2026. The forum brings material suppliers, equipment manufacturers, cell makers and end users together around a single subject: dry battery electrode processing.

As dry electrode technologies gain ground, powder characterization has to keep up. Tapped density, flowability and particle size distribution describe part of the picture, but electrical conductivity, the property most directly tied to cycling performance, remains difficult to measure efficiently.
Conductivity rises with packing fraction, since compaction multiplies the contacts between particles. That relationship matters particularly in dry coating, where densification takes place in the calender gap. Being able to predict how conductivity evolves with packing fraction therefore becomes a real lever for electrode optimization.
The study introduces a method that measures powder conductivity coupled with tapped density on the GranuPack. Several electrode-relevant powders, cathodic and anodic, containing different conductive additives and showing varying degrees of fibrillation, were characterized. The interaction between fibrillation and carbon black in forming the conductive network was investigated systematically, and distinct conductivity levels and rates of increase emerged, correlating with electrode properties.
What we bring to Dresden
GranuPack with its Conductivity Unit - packing dynamics and electrical conductivity measured on the same sample, as the powder densifies.
GranuCharge At Line - electrostatic charge monitored directly in the production environment.
