The New GranuDrum: More Automation, Faster Results, Higher Accuracy
After ten years as the reference system for image-based powder flow analysis, the GranuDrum enters a new generation. Redeveloped from scratch in both hardware and software, the new GranuDrum makes powder flow characterization simpler, more automated and more precise than ever.
Rotating drum technology, taken further
The GranuDrum is an automated powder flow rheometer. A powder sample rotates in a transparent drum, while advanced image analysis tracks the powder/air interface and its fluctuations to quantify the Cohesive Index, Dynamic Angle of Repose, Aeration Index and Roughness Index. The new generation keeps this proven principle and rethinks everything around it.

More automation
The new GranuDrum features a motorized door and a fully software-driven workflow, from measurement to report with PDF and XLS export. Standardized automated SOPs, automated thixotropy and hysteresis analysis, and a measurement queue reduce operator intervention and ensure highly repeatable results, independent of the user.
Faster results
Practical tests such as thixotropy, fluidization, settling, caking, agglomeration, segregation and aeration are directly available in the software. Automatic data collection, storage and reporting shorten the path from sample to decision, and you can now export a movie of each measurement to review and share your results easily.
Higher accuracy
The new GranuDrum captures high-definition images (up to 3088 × 2076 pixels, up to 16 times more pixels than before) at frame rates up to 60 fps. Combined with its unique fluctuation-based cohesion measurement and a rotation speed range from 0.1 to 250 rpm, it delivers a finer description of powder behavior. Measurements are compliant with ISO/ASTM TR 52952:2023 and ASTM D8648-25.
Smarter decisions with Granulyzer AI
The new GranuDrum comes with the new Granulyzer AI, the brain of data interpretation. Ask it a question about your data, such as "Which powder has the best flowability?", and get a straightforward answer. Users with limited powder flow expertise can now perform reliable diagnostics and make decisions faster, with fewer errors.
Models and options
The new GranuDrum is available in two models: GranuDrum Classic (room temperature) and GranuDrum High Temperature (up to 250 °C). Both are compatible with controlled atmospheres (gas, humidity and temperature).
Options include a new Large Drum Cell (165 mL) for the Classic model, a Reduction Kit (10 mL), Calibration Kit and Reference Material, IQ/OQ/PQ Certification and 21 CFR Part 11 Compliance.
