Granutools at AAPS PharmSci 360 2026  -  October 25-28, 2026

Granutools will be at AAPS PharmSci 360 2026 in New Orleans, October 25–28, booth 1737 with RCPE. Giuseppe Del Sorbo presents a poster on Monday showing how additives reduce triboelectric charging in pharmaceutical blends, and why more additive is not always better.

During handling and conveying, particle-particle and particle-wall contacts generate electrostatic charge. As charge accumulates, cohesive forces rise: flowability drops, powder adheres to equipment, lines clog, and mass flow starts to fluctuate. In continuous feeding, these effects are severe enough to pull a process away from its target mass flow.

Additives are routinely used to improve the flow of excipient and API blends, and some are known to limit charging. What has been missing is a systematic evaluation of how well they actually work under process conditions.

cEvery additive reduced charge build-up against the additive-free reference. But the efficiency depended strongly on both type and concentration, and not always in the direction you would expect: Aerosil® 200 in Starch 1500® reached its maximum charge reduction at 0.5%, then performed worse at higher loadings. More additive is not automatically better, and the optimum is worth measuring rather than assuming.

Booth 1737

Granutools shares booth 1737 with RCPE. Four instruments will be running throughout the conference: GranuDrum for flowability and cohesion under dynamic conditions, GranuPack for packing dynamics and bulk density evolution, GranuFlow for flow through calibrated orifices, and the GranuCharge At Line behind the poster results.

Come and see a measurement run from start to finish, on most of these instruments it takes a few minutes, and it is the fastest way to judge whether the data would tell you something about your own formulation.
