Dry Coating Forum  - November 4 - 5, 2025

Granutools will be at the Dry Coating Forum from November 4 to 5, 2025 in Dresden, Germany.

As the world accelerates toward green mobility, the demand for efficient and sustainable battery production is more critical than ever. The Dry Coating Forum (DCF), hosted by Fraunhofer IWS, brings together leading minds in battery technology to shape the future of dry battery electrode processing: a game-changing alternative to traditional slurry-based methods.

Presentation: How to Evaluate the Effect of Different Parameters on Fibrillation
by Filip Francqui, Managing Director

Dry coating offers a solvent-free, energy-efficient approach to electrode manufacturing. However, one of its key challenges lies in controlling the fibrillation of PTFE, which plays a crucial role in the mechanical integrity of the electrode film.

In his talk, Filip Francqui will unveil a novel characterization method using the GranuPack (Granutools’ advanced tapped density instrument) to quantify the level of fibrillation in powder blends. By analyzing how parameters like temperature and fibrillation time affect the dynamic packing behavior of powders, this research provides valuable insights for optimizing dry coating processes.

The study focuses on blends of LFP (IBUvolt® LFP400), Carbon Black, and PTFE, and demonstrates how the dynamic metric α correlates with fibril formation. These findings highlight the importance of powder characterization in achieving consistent and high-performance dry-coated electrodes.

Join us at DCF to explore how Granutools is helping drive innovation in battery manufacturing through precision powder analysis.
