About Euro PM 2025

Organized by the European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA), Euro PM20 25 is the key annual meeting point for the international PM community, bringing together suppliers, producers, and end-users to explore the latest innovations in powder metallurgy. The event features a rich technical program, strategic plenary sessions, market-focused seminars, and a vibrant exhibition showcasing cutting-edge developments across the global PM supply chain.

Presentation “Spreadability of Metal Powders: Combining Powder Characterization and DEM Simulations

  • September 15th
  • 4:00 PM – 4:20 PM
  • Lomond Auditorium
  • Session 8: Powder Characterisation
In this presentation, Roozbeh Valadian, Ph.D., Sales Manager at Granutools, will demonstrate how powder spreadability can be predicted by combining advanced characterization techniques with numerical simulations. Using GranuDrum, Granutools’ rotating drum rheometer, powder cohesiveness is quantified and linked to flow behavior. These experimental insights are then integrated into Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulations to model layer formation and spreading dynamics. This hybrid approach offers a powerful framework for optimizing powder performance in additive manufacturing and other PM processes.

Presentation “Standards In Powder Characterization, Present And Future”

  • September 15th
  • 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM
  • Room: Alsh 2
  • Session 23: EHQS SIS - Sustainability, Standards and EU Policies for PM
Roozbeh Valadian will review current standards in metal additive manufacturing powder testing and introduce the GranuDrum as a promising candidate for standardized characterization. The presentation will cover recent advancements in powder flow measurement, including spreadability tests for various metal alloys and the link between intrinsic powder properties and rotating drum metrics. Round-robin results and cohesive index insights will be discussed to highlight the relevance of these methods for industrial AM applications.
