About the Compaction Simulation Forum (CSF)

The Compaction Simulation Forum is a central platform for scientists, engineers, academics, and manufacturers to exchange on the latest research, equipment, and methodologies in the field. With the growing use of high-speed hydraulic simulators, mechanical replicators, and predictive computational models, the forum highlights innovation in powder compactiontablet formulation, and Quality by Design (QbD) strategies.

As pharmaceutical APIs become more expensive and development timelines tighter, compaction simulation enables early characterization, material-sparing studies, and efficient formulation optimization.

Poster Presentation - Innovative Method Evaluating Permeability for Tableting Process Improvement

June 10 | 4:15 PM | Presented by Stéphane Caubergh, Ph.D., Head of Sales, Granutools

In this study, we explore the link between powder permeability and tablet properties using three powder mixtures combining common excipients and lubricants. Utilizing the GranuPack Permeability, we measure permeability across a range of packing fractions, unlike traditional methods limited to static points.

Our results show how packing dynamicsparticle size distribution, and cohesiveness affect the permeability during compaction. The findings support a more accurate prediction of powder behavior and help improve the efficiency of the tableting process.
