The 7th edition of the International Conference on Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of Titanium, PMTi 2024, will bring together researchers and professionals for the first time in Spain. This event will focus on the processing, design, and application of titanium and its alloys, specifically those fabricated using powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing technologies. Presentation: Predicting powder spreadability for metal AM

Aurélien Neveu, Head of Laboratory and Applications at Granutools, will present on predicting powder spreadability for metal additive manufacturing (AM). His work explores how powder properties influence spreadability in processes like Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), where achieving thin, uniform layers is crucial.
Building on previous findings that link spreadability to powder rheology measured by the GranuDrum, Neveu’s study extends the research with in situ evaluations in an SLM printer. By analyzing the impact of recoater speed on layer quality, he offers insights for optimizing powder and recoating speed combinations, enabling more effective predictions of powder performance.
