Presentation - Relating Powder Cohesiveness to its Spreadability in Powder Bed-Base AM
Tuesday, 18 June at 2:40 pm
Aurélien Neveu from Granutools will delve into the crucial relationship between powder cohesiveness and its spreadability in powder bed-based additive manufacturing (AM).
Recognizing the pivotal role of smooth and uniform layer deposition in AM processes, he will discuss the challenges posed by cohesive behavior in fine particle powders and its impact on flowability and spreadability. Drawing from previous research, he will demonstrate how the rheological properties of metal powders, measured in a rotating drum, can serve as predictive indicators of spreadability.
Expanding upon earlier findings, Dr. Neveu will present new insights gained from a diverse range of materials, showcasing the consistent correlation between the Cohesive Index and actual spreadability in the LBPF printer. By elucidating these correlations and their implications for process optimization, Dr. Neveu will underscore the significance of the Cohesive Index as a valuable metric for predicting powder spreadability in AM applications.
Presentation - AM Powder Standards: The Need to Adopt State-of-the-Art Characterization Methods
Tuesday, 18 June at 4:10 pm
Aurélien Neveu will also discuss the necessity of updating AM powder standards to incorporate state-of-the-art characterization methods in his presentation “AM Powder Standards: The Need to Adopt State-of-the-Art Characterization Methods”.
He'll highlight the limitations of current standards and the need for universally applicable procedures in additive manufacturing. By reviewing existing standards and presenting advanced characterization techniques, Dr. Neveu aims to bridge the gap between powder properties and their performance in AM processes.
