New research collaboration between Granutools and TU Delft

Powder characterization for fluidized bed reactor and spray drying applications

Granutools and TU Delft together to explore powder characterization for fluidized bed reactor and spray drying applications

We are pleased to announce a new research collaboration between Granutools and TU Delft.

A brand-new GranuDrum, the unique rotating drum system manufactured by Granutools, has been recently installed by our production engineers in the laboratory of the Product and Process Engineering group, part of the Chemical Engineering Department of TU Delft.

The instrument will be used to assess the flowability of starch and polymeric powders under the supervision of Prof. Gabrie Meesters. The GranuDrum will support the experimental characterization work of one of the researchers, Christian Van Der Sande, in the frame of his innovative PhD project.

The main goal is to investigate the impact of temperature and relative humidity on the flowability of powders for fluidized bed reactor and spray drying applications; with the goal of defining a region of working parameters (T, RH) to optimize the process.
